J.L. HILTON is the author of Stellarnet Rebel, the 2013 EPIC Award finalist for best sci-fi ebook and winner of the Galaxy Award for Best Non-Traditional Romance, and sequel Stellarnet Prince, both published by Carina Press. She is a contributor to Contact-Infinite Futures and Charlotte Geeks, while working on book three of the Stellarnet Series and writing Skyrim smut or Wanton Wasteland tales.
She started gaming back in the 1970s with Atari Pong and Apple ][ and is one of the few over-40 females doing Fallout 4 and Skyrim videos on Youtube. She’s a lifelong fan of science fiction and fantasy, growing up with Star Wars toys and Narnia books, pictures of wizards, dragons and Buck Rogers on her walls. As the founder of the Raleigh “Can’t Stop the Serenity” annual charity event, she supported CSTS for over a decade, as well as participating in such events as Illogicon, ConTemporal, StellarCon, ConCarolinas, and more, as both an author and a jewelry designer.
As JEN HILTON, she designs unique science fiction and fantasy themed jewelry, posts geeky crafting videos on her Youtube channel, and appears in the books Steampunk Style Jewelry and 1000 Steampunk Creations. Her graphic art may be seen as tattoos, t-shirts, and tank drums.
Jen has a dusty old psych degree and a collection of useless skills including newspaper reporter, calligrapher, tarot reader, poet, cake decorator, award-winning photographer, the ability to recite A Visit From St. Nicholas from memory, and knowing every verse of Waltzing Matilda.
Some of her real-life adventures include deciphering Mojave Desert petroglyphs with an archaeology professor, petting a tiger, visiting Thomas Jefferson’s bedroom, interviewing celebrity psychic Kenny Kingston, flying remote-control experimental military technology, nude modeling, taking high tea at the Huntington mansion, studying ancient Irish history at Duke University, and learning authentic Elizabethan dialect so she could work for a master perfume maker at a Renaissance Faire.
